Report on Indianapolis Pillaiyar Nonbu - 2010
Indianapolis Pillaiyar Nonbu 2010
My parents (M.C. Ramanathan and Meenakshi) and my mama’s family (Raman and Vallikannu) were happy to host this year’s Pillaiyar Nonbu at the Carmel Lion’s Club’s Clubhouse. It was held on the evening of December 11th, 2010.
The exciting evening started with Pillaiyar songs sung by me and my friends. Thanks to Viji aunty, mami (Vallikannu), and mama (Raman) for compiling a great book. (Sathappan uncle, thank you for your great idea.) The book had all the songs that the kids sang in Tamil and in English. Thanks to all parents for preparing and training my friends to sing new songs every year. Everyone could follow the beautiful songs that we sang. After singing, each family introduced themselves and took the ezhais (There was about 51 ezhais.)
We ate the delicious food that the aunties prepared. All of the hard work done by the aunties was reflected in the food they made. The Chettinad food was amazing and mouthwatering.
Later, we played two interesting games. One was for the adults and the other was for the kids. The adults’ game was about sharing responsibilities. The game was filled with laughter and many adults gained more knowledge. The children’s game was Oru Varthai. We enjoyed that game. The day ended with many smiles.
