Pillayar Nonbu was celebrated in the San Francisco Bay Area on Saturday, December 11, 2010. The function was held at the Hindu Cultural Center in the Shiva Vishnu Temple in Livermore, CA. The function started at 2 PM. Around 550 ezhais were given out by 6 elders. There was an hour long cultural program where kids performed dance events, sang songs and played musical instruments. Traditional pillayar nonbu food was served. The food was made at home by the local families. Yelam was conducted after the dinner. Around $9000 was collected this year. The organizers thank all the families that attended the function, prepared food, coordinated the cultural events, served food, prepare the ezhais and all the elders that patiently sat down for close to 2 hours and distributed the ezhais.
