Nanal-September issue- Presidents Note
Respected nagarathars,
It has been approximately four months since our team assumed office on the isdes of
March and it is time to reflect on the first quarter of 2010-2011.
I would like to first of all thank the Texas team, and especially Mr. Ravi Ramanathan,
the past president for being with us still and tying up loose ends and above all encouraging our
team in each and every way. Encouragement really boosts enthusiasm amongst the team.
We would also like to thank their team for issuing the recent address book. I am sure that
a lot of work and effort has been put into this task.
My overall opinion about our team is that they are all very energetic and have been
volunteering their valuable time whenever deemed necessary, coming up with excellent new
ideas and implementing them. This has certainly been proven by the many positive feedbacks
we have received from here and and abroad. I would like to touch upon the highlights of
the various committees, although the detail reports will be provided by each individual
committee.
1) EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: Our executive committee members have been in close
communication with one another and we have had three fruitful meetings this far. We have
also had two regional secretaries meeting on March 28th. and June 27th 2010 which was
well attended and I thank all the regional secretaries for their active participation and for
all their input and suggestions. I would humbly request them to keep attending the regional
secretaries quarterly meetings and keep feeding us their ideas and opinions so that we
could help our community better.
2)EDUCATION COMMITTEE: Headed by Mr. Muthiah Sundaresan and his team have been
carefully reviewing the applications and helping our needy kids in India with the resources
for their education. They do have several plans in the horizon to help more students here and
elsewhere and they are actively seeking generous donations to accomplish their task.
I would like to congratulate him on his excellent presentation in the recent regional secretaries
meeting regarding Educational assistance fund request.
3) MARRIAGE COMMITTEE: lead by Mr. Baskaran Ramaswamy has been keeping the wedding
bells chiming and have come up with excellent ideas for making a dream marriage a reality.
They have helped several marriages thus far and I would encourage each and every member
to go to our website www.achi.org and familiarize themselves with the various options available
to put a smile on a couple.
4)TECHNOLOGY AND WEB COMMITTEE: lead by he talented fingers of Mr.Arun Somasundaram
has been putting up an excellent website at www.achi.org. We have had several positive
feedbacks regarding this and I urge all of you to surf through the web site, assimilate the
contents, use the forums and the various aspects of the website and feel free to add your
suggestions. I would like to add that personally, I am really enjoying this site.
5)RETREAT COMMITTEE: It is my extreme privilege to thank the leader of the retreat committee
Mr. Laks Meyappan and his team for the countless hours that they have spent to choose the
venue for the NSNA 2011 National convention (The ads of which you will be seeing elsewhere in
this nanal issue). He had conducted a survey amongst the regional secretaries and have decided
July 4th. week-end of 2011 to be the appropriate time and the Trenton war memorial as the
venue. we certainly wish him all the best in putting together this large convention in 2011
and we will provide all the support he needs.
6) NANAL COMMITTEE: We have Mr. Suku Sukumar and Mr. Palaniappan kathiresan and his
team to be thankful for, for launching the first Nanal (June issue) which was well appreciated
by everyone. I especially welcome the idea Mr. Sukumar has to attract our youth by proposing
an essay competition and also segregating a separate youth section in the Nanal.
I would request our members and readers to also contribute in the way of new articles,
messages, and letters to the editor format, so that your opinions are heard, for after all
what good is a newsletter without the critic of its readers?
7)HEATH AND HUMANITARIAN COMMITTEE: championed by Mr. Chandrasekar Meyyappan
and his team has been reaching out to the elderly and sick in our community. As you are all
aware that the baby-boomers of to-day will be the elderly of to-morrow. So please come forward
to help the fragile, elderly, sick and unfortunate destitute people amongst us, through the
able guidance of the health and humanitarian committee.
8) MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: Mr. babu Periakaruppan, the chair of the membership committee
is very mindful of his members and non members. This is the area that we do really need all your
help. My personal plea to one and all in our community, is to become life members of NSNA
and contribute to our organization and our community at large both here and abroad.
Babu has some additional perks for becoming life members in that he has set up a referral
basis and wishes to recognize people for referring their colleagues to become life members.
The details of this are available at our website.
9) FUND RAISING COMMITTEE: headed by our esteemed Dr.V.Venkatachalam and Mr.
Alagappan Thenappan are making plans to reach out to members of our community and rekindle
the flame of contributing to worthy causes . Hence I hope you all will be receptive to their plea
and help us to help you all in any way we can.
Even though I have touched upon the various committees here, I am fully aware of
all the other people in the backstage and behind the scenes who are making all this possible,
and I sincerely extent my gratitude to them as well.
Finally a few quotes on CHARITY.
CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME,BUT SHOULD NOT END THERE------- THOMAS FULLER
AS THE PURSE IS EMPTIED,THE HEART IS FILLED -------- VICTOR HUGO
IT IS MORE AGREEABLE TO HAVE THE POWER TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE ---WINSTON CHURCHILL

Sincerely yours,
A.Periakaruppan.
